How can I create a calendar that enables my journaling habit?

I designed and developed a calendar system that would enable my gratitude journalling while keeping track of the time that passes. I wanted to make something that I would not only be proud of but also use after the completion of this project.

World of possibilities

When creating a calendar, how can I instill my ideals while making an effective system.

The start of this project was most projects I have done for the semester since I began with ideation sketches. I was told to create a calendar system using any medium, method, or format that I deemed fit. My professor said “you should feel good about the idea” and emphasized that once we have an idea to go all the way with it.

In the beginning I wanted to have some sort of movement and began to find I was attracted to a system that used metal balls similar to pin-ball machines as the main calendar system. I asked myself…

How do I make a calendar system that I like?

I have found that the hardest client to please is me, myself, and I. Finding something that I liked was the hardest challenge of this project.

Feeling lost

I found it challenging to find an idea that really resonate with me, so I sought out feedback from peers to guide my future moves.

I continued to sketch various ideas, trying to find something that would stick. I wasn’t gravitating towards any one idea and asked my peers their opinion. The idea my peers thought was the most unique and effective was a mancala styled calendar where you either used a ball or card system to track your tasks and days for each week.
